What are the benefits of being in a collective?
A collective is a group of persons or businesses that shares or is motivated by common issues or interests, or works together to achieve common objectives.
Support/Taupuhipuhi
In a well functioning collective, each member becomes stronger through the support of the other members. Members learn faster, avoid problems others have made and leverage others’ knowledge. Most importantly, they develop confidence from the network of support and mentoring that exists in the collective.
Collaboration/Kotahitanga
There is a lot of wisdom in pithy sayings such as “many hands make light work”. Members of a collective are not alone; they share problems and solutions, costs and benefits.
Development and Innovation/Whakawhanake
A lot of businesses have similar problems and can benefit from similar solutions. Within a collective, members are constantly helping to solve problems and consider improvements. These developments and innovations are shared with others and they encourage everyone to develop and innovate further.
Collective Knowledge/Wānanga
The sharing of knowledge by members within the collective builds a knowledge ecosystem. This allows all members to benefit from the knowledge of subject matter experts, and for specialist knowledge to be leveraged across the collective.
